5 Ways to Get the Most Out of Twitter

The first day I managed Envano’s Twitter account, it gained more than 40 new followers. How did I do it? By following these steps:

1. Be Careful With Hashtags

It’s easy to go hashtag crazy, but one to two hashtags per tweet is plenty. Use hashtags each time you Tweet to reach the widest audience. Resources such as hashtagify.me are a big help — this site tells you what hashtags are trending and related hashtags you can use.

2. Bring Your Brand to Life

Photos, GIFs, short videos and anything visual are important. Adding imagery will help your tweet reach and engage with more users. Use high-quality photos that showcase your brand and lifestyle. Test different photos and messages to see what your audience responds to most.

3. Target Your Audience

Tweeting regularly throughout the day is what helped the most with gaining new Twitter followers. The amount of time in which a Tweet will receive at least half of its total engagement is only 24 minutes. Use services such as TweetDeck to schedule Tweets — this is a huge timesaver! When you’re scheduling, try to Tweet around the hour mark. This is usually when people are coming in and out of meetings.

4. Switch it Up

By curating content, you add variety to your feed and build relationships with other brands and followers. Following other industry thought leaders, publications, news sources, dealers and relevant hashtags can help you find inspiration for curated content. This is also a great way to increase engagement on your feed. Don’t forget to cite another’s content using their Twitter handle or unique hashtag.

5. Cut Characters

Long links use up unnecessary characters and take time away from being productive. You can shorten links using bit.ly or another similar service. Doing so will allow you to track your link clicks as well.
