“You can’t solve a problem on the same level that it was created. You have to rise above it to the next level.” — Albert Einstein
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with invention and innovation. Growing up, my favorite book series followed a kid named Tom Swift Jr. on his inventive adventures. I loved his creativity and the out-of-the-box way he approached whatever challenge he faced. From building robots and fixing airplanes, to creating underwater vessels and taking trips to the moon, he always found a unique solution. Throughout my professional career, I have challenged myself to think differently, ask questions and stay curious. To bring an individualized and creative approach to everything I do.
The Importance of Innovation
Our industry exists because of invention and innovation. The computer was invented, and has since gone through a myriad of changes, upgrades and revisions. What once weighed 50 tons and took up an entire room, we can now hold in the palm of our hand, because of innovation. The same goes for the internet; when it was first invented it was unlike anything we had ever seen. A web of connection was born, changing access to information and communication forever. Since its inception, it has reached far beyond the boundaries of just providing data and information. It has changed the way we live. Now, we have at our fingertips platforms for connecting with friends, access to current events in real-time, the ability to earn degrees online, and to order and receive things at our door within hours. We can shop all our favorite brands from the comfort of our living rooms, we have access to search engines that provide answers to questions in seconds whenever our curiosity is piqued. All because of innovation.
When we started Envano, we wanted to approach each and every project, client, and customer with the heart of innovation. How can we take an already amazing product or service and help advance it? How can we solve a complex business situation in a way that’s never been done before? What can we do to put ourselves in our customers’ shoes to better their experience? To me, innovation is a forward movement. Without it, we can’t grow. At Envano, it’s our mission to challenge the status quo, test the limits and provide our clients with unique and cutting-edge results.
So how do you create an environment centered around innovation?
Innovation starts with the Right Team
Our team at Envano is a creative and naturally curious bunch. Problem-solving excites us. We always try to approach even the most simple tasks with fresh eyes. We seek to inspire and encourage continued learning and we’re not afraid of bad ideas, because we all believe in each other’s talents and abilities. Having a culture that is supportive, that encourages imagination and creativity is key to cultivating innovation.
Change the Rules
We realize that having a unique approach to every client or customer that walks through our doors is not traditional. However, we have found it is worth the risk! We are able to tailor each project to the needs of our clients, giving them a competitive edge above the rest. My personal mantra in life is “how can I do/make things better?” Where traditional agencies can get stuck in the rut of routine, we have chosen to flip the script and challenge ourselves to do more for our clients by breaking the mold and taking a fresh approach each time.
Our world has become what it is today because of people with great ideas refusing to give up, and refusing to accept things as they are. A horse and buggy were revolutionary until Henry Ford believed there was another way. That’s why at Envano we stay inspired, we learn, we challenge, we create. We believe that the sky is the limit and we won’t stop till we get there.
“Around here, however, we don’t look backward for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious … and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” — Walt Disney
